Yoga Überschrift
Yoga makes it possible to experience inner harmony. The thousands of year old, comprehensive system of yoga was developed to permit emotional break-throughs to be experienced under guidance and in a secure environment. Yoga is so much read more than just a fitness program. The asanas (positions) do not only address the bodily, physical plain but also engage the emotional one with the purpose of eliciting a spiritual development. However, yoga has nothing to do with esotericism - and nothing, too, with the new age esoteric trend towards spiritual 'enlightenment'. In yoga, physical fitness, physical health and physical relaxation are the primary objectives, and they can easily be learned. Awareness, evolution and an understanding for the own body then become crucial building blocks on that journey.

In general, there are four philosophical ways according to which yoga is practised correctly. Which one of them is yours is your decision alone (Recommended Reading: The Art of Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar, The Sutras of Patanjali by Alistair Shearer). Yoga, as one of the six orthodox systems of Indian philosophy, assists us in the ability to recognise inner movement, in getting to know ourselves and in concentrating on eventually letting go of everything learned. All known and still evolving forms of yoga have their origin in Hatha Yoga and embody the knowledge of the master over the body, the mind and the soul.

Note: Interested persons with potential physical or psychological conditions please consult your doctor before starting to practise yoga. Yoga is not a substitute for psychotherapy. Please understand that I cannot accept any liability and may, at any point and without having to explain grounds, refer a student to another teacher.

How does Yoga work?

Scientific research has established that the practise of yoga can support the development of a human being in various ways. Yoga

• increases bodily awareness
• strengthens overall performance
• helps to cope with stress
• helps to treat pain
• deepens breathing
• increases flexibility
• improves blood circulation
• improves metabolic functions
• can lead to inner peace and equilibrium
• improves concentration and the experience of existence in the here and now
• helps with weight loss through bodily awareness

Yoga as an Element of Support in Life

Everything practiced in yoga with the objective of changing or improving a particular physical condition is thereby also a small building block of living life itself. Here, you practise one on one with a teacher who prepares especially for your current constitution, be that philosophical, psychological or physiological. Whether with standing poses, hip openings, knee exercises, rotations, inverted positions, back bends or forward stretches: there are many ways to achieve something worthwhile. By practising yoga, you too may find unexpected possibilities.

Well over 3 million people practice yoga in Germany alone. Every year many read more join up because physically, something doesn't work anyread more, suffering from stress or because they heard from someone else that they always feel good after a yoga lesson.

In Germany yoga is still a relatively recent development and many people continue to harbour fears and prejudices about this practice from far away India. Some - mistakenly - even talk about yoga as a religion, perhaps because the oldest known writings on yoga were authored around 3700 B.C., or perhaps because the tradition was mainly an oral one and much written material was lost or remains obscure. Even back then, in the social caste system of India someone who taught yoga was not a so-called guru but rather someone whose profession was received with some bemusement. It was a long haul, begun by some exceptional teachers of yoga, who pursued and honed this practice for us to receive as a gift today.
